French bedhead alarm clock SMI, in bakelite, of ART DECO style, made in France from 1950 to 1960. Of ivory color, its embellishers are gilded. In excellent condition in the esthetic aspect. This small clock became very rare and is also a beautiful object of decoration which brings a retro French touch in a bedroom, a lounge or an office. Light adjustment to be done by a clockmaker to make the clock fully operational.

Description

French bedhead alarm clock SMI, in bakelite, of ART DECO style, manufactured from 1950 to 1960. This mechanical clock, which must be raised every day, appeared on the French market by 1950 and was made in Marseille by the Society Meridional of Industrie until 1960. The color depended on fashions and matched with the colors of bakelites used for tubes radios said « bedhead radios ». Bought in France in an Antiques shop of Abbeville (Somme). Size in cm: L:15 x H:11.5 x E:6 cm. Size in inches; L: 9 x H: 4.5 x T: 3,5. This small clock needs an adjustment by a watchmaker because it stops and rings when it wants. Of ivory color, its embellishers are gilded. In excellent condition in the esthetic aspect, it does not have neither tear nor breakage. Appreciated of European collectors, this small clock is more and more rare and is also a beautiful object of decoration which brings a retro French touch in a bedroom, a lounge or an office.
