Rare antique French toleware Coffee Grinder JAPY dating of the second half of 19th century (1875)- This coffee mill has been manufactured by JAPY in France. It was named "tabatière" wich means « tobacco box ». Drawer tilting at the base on 2 hinges.Toleware with ring and cap nut, iron handle with walnut knob. Wheel for adjusting the grain size inside the mechanism. Rusty but in acceptable condition in consideration of his age. Just arriving from an attic of Picardie it needs a strong brushing and a small renovation of the crank. This model of coffee grinder was one of the types adopted by the French Army for the Soldiers of the WW1. One pièce of this type for ten soldiers was the ratio. It measures : Base 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" x 4", 8" high (handle included)
