Description

Very rare and superb SALTER’S spring balance made around 1900 of cast, steel, and brass, in England and found at St Valery in the Somme. Calibrated from 0 to 100 kg (and not in pounds), this type of balance arrived in France with the British soldiers in 1914 and was after the WW1mainly used by the civilian french fishermen and butchers. The military past, the great size, 42 cm from top ring and hook, 14 cm of diameter for the measuring disk in brass and a total weight of 3,5 kg make of this balance a major and rare piece of collection and also an original piece of decoration for your interior..
