Rare and magnificent " hung jar " of the XIXth century in copper, found in the Basque Country (South West of France).
Handicrafted, it has been hand hammered, welded with tin and his handle is riveted.
In good condition, this major component in a fireplace of the years 1850/1900 must be cleaned and partially polished only to keep its age and soul. 36 cm high and 22 cm for the diameter of the widest of its elegant design, the jar contained around 8 liters of water. Hung in the fireplace it was systematically refilled after each use.
